Office Pants

So I've realize that a lot of working women wear dresses and skirts, and I think that this is because women's slacks are very unflattering and rather boring. However, I have found a pair if formal pants, that would work in most offices, that I love. Just be advised that some work places require you to dress very conservatively, and you should follow their dress code, not mine.

This is what I wore to work on Monday. My pants are from gap and they are super comfortable and fit very well. The pattern on the pants looks like this:

The pants themselves are a very dark navy blue, with royal blue and white diamona all over. The print is simple and subtle enough to work in an office. However, I would wear anything bolder than this, nor would I pair these pants with a bright or printed top.

My sweater is from J Crew and is probably the work wear piece that I wear most often. It's a perfect neural color that works great for spring, it fits well, and I can wear it with pants or a skirt.

My shoes are black pumps by Chinese Laundry (I got them off Amazon) and I brought my regular work bag (not pictured).

Hope everyone has a happy Wednesday!

Work Outfit 3

Hello everyone!!

Continuing with this work wear series, I wanted to share with all of you a slightly more conservative and professional looking outfit, for anyone who needs to look a little more dressed up for work. This outfit, though feminine and stylish, is very simple, quiet, and affordable.

The shirt I am wearing is a collared, long sleeved, cream colored blouse from Forever 21. I think everyone, working or not, should own a long sleeved collared shirt. They are the perfect way to make an outfit look more formal or presentable, and white goes with practically everything. I particularly love this blouse because of it's lack of structure. Most collared shirts can easily wrinkle, and look puffy under sweaters and dresses. This shirt, however, is very thin and soft, making it the perfect layering piece.

My dress is also from Forever 21, and it is a very simple, sleeveless grey dress that falls to the knee. I find this dress very appropriate for the office because of the length and the neckline. It may be conservative for some, but when entering a work place for the first time, it's generally best to stay on the conservative side.

My shoes are from Chinese Laundry and they are fairly simple black leather pumps, which are not too high and therefore pretty easy to walk in. As usual, I carried my black H&M bag (not pictured) which I find perfect for carrying all of my stuff to and from work.

Since I was wearing a collar, I decided to put my hair up into a bun so that my shoulders and the collar were visible, and also so that my hair wouldn't be getting in my face during the day.

As always, comment below with any post suggestions and I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day!

Laura Geller Lipstick

Hello lovelies!!

Summer is almost here! If any of you read my last post, you may have noticed that I mentioned the Laura Geller lipstick, but didn't say much about it. That's because I wanted to dedicate a whole blog post to it, since I wore it for the first time on Saturday and absolutely loved it! So here we go!

I definitely went for silver jewelry and undertones rather than gold on Saturday, because I feel like silver can be a lot lighter and more springtimey. Since I was wearing a printed dress, I wanted to go neutral with my lips, so I pulled out my brand new Laura Geller lipstick in Sugarred Maple.

This is a much darker nude than I have ever owned, with some rich brown tones running through it. What I wasn't expecting was the beautiful silver shimmer that appeared when applied. The silver worked just perfectly with what I was wearing, while still being a nude lipstick. Personally, I think this is a great nighttime lipstick for the outfits that need a little less than a red lip.

This lipstick is also fairly pigmented and pretty long lasting. I found that I only had to reapply once during the dinner, which is much less than other lipsticks I own. It is also super moisturizing and could definitely work all year round. I never thought that I'd be a dark nude lipstick kind of person, but some outfits need it, and this is the best I've seen.

As for purchasing this lipstick, I won't be very helpful. I bought it on Hautelook in a beauty bag with a bunch of other products. So Nordstrom is probably your best bet.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday!

MS Dinner Of Champions 2014

Hi everyone!

So last night was the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Dinner of Champions, which I attended with my family. I wanted to share what I wore with all of you since I often find it hard to know what's appropriate for formal charity dinners.

I wore a patterned shift dress from La Fee Maraboutee (a French brand). I absolutely love this dress; it is so comfortable to wear and shift dresses just look very chic and elegant, especially at night. This dress falls just above the knee, which is a perfect length for a formal evening. And the neckline just hangs beautifully.

For shoes I wore my black, strappy heels  by Jimmy Choo. Black was just the perfect compliment to my patterned dress, which was definitely my statement piece if the night.

As for hair and makeup, I wanted to go pretty neutral, to let the dress stand out. I did my hair up in a sleek ponytail so that the neckline of the dress didn't get lost in my massive amounts of dark hair. And the nude lipstick I wore was Laura Geller's lipstick in Sugared Maple (it'll probably be my next lipstick review since I LOVED it).

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend and have a very lovely Sunday!

Work Outfit 2

Hello lovelies!

It is the most beautiful day in Seattle!! So I wanted to share the bright and classy work outfit that I wore today.

Coral has become a very popular color and, when used carefully, can be perfect for the office. I recommend not wearing patterns or other bright colors when you have such a statement piece on. But coral is a beautiful color and perfect for spring, so don't let it's brightness intimidate you. My coral top is a very soft cotton blouse by LNA. I paired it with a navy blue pencil skirt from H&M because I love the combination of navy and coral.

For shoes, I wore my Chinese Laundry tan, patent leather pumps (which I got on Amazon for $25; great way to use those random Amazon gift cards). Pumps are the classic work shoes and everyone should own at least one pair. I also have regular leather ones in black, and both pairs are easily wearable all year round. But I like the tan ones as it gets warmer outside, since black can be a bit dark.

My bag is not pictured, but I brought my big black H&M bag (see my first work wear post) which is the absolute best bag for the office.

Comment below if you have any suggestions for future posts and I hope everyone has a happy Wednesday!

Revlon Color Burst Matte Lip Balm

Hi Everyone!

It's officially getting warmer! And of course, more sun means brighter colors. Now, I generally go for bright reds and pinks when I'm looking for a bright color, but everyone needs an orange lipstick and this is by far my favorite of the bunch.

This is the Revlon Color Burst Matte Lip Balm in #245 Audacious. I love this lip balm and cannot wait to try it in more colors. It is extremely moisturizing and long lasting, so I find that this is the perfect balm for a long summer day. Being a balm, it is not super pigmented, but it definitely holds true to being an orange lip color. Also, I love the fact that it is matte; being such a bright color, sparkle and shine would be overwhelming as a lip color.

I've posted my first work wear outfit and hope you all enjoyed it! Leave me comments of any of your bright summer lipsticks, I always love trying new colors!

Happy Thursday!

Work Outfit

Hello Lovelies!

So as I mentioned in my last post, I have just started an office internship. Seeing as I need to dress more formally than before, I have been looking for work wear that is still fun and bright. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything like that so here is my take on work wear for younger people.

Today was about 55 degrees F and there was a chance of showers so I donned a hooded raincoat over my dress and tights.

My jacket is a navy blue raincoat from Jigsaw London. My bag is from H&M.

Dresses are always nice in the work place; they look formal and are comfortable when you're sitting at a desk all day. However, one has to make sure the dress is long enough and covers your chest well. A good rule of thumb for the office is just above the knee and no cleavage. This dress was a little bit shorter than I would usually wear to work, and it was colder today, so I wore a pair of tights to solve both problems. I finished my work look with a pair of black flats. Seeing as I take the bus to work and have a few blocks to walk, flats are very practically. They are also formal, conservative, and will always be acceptable in the office.

My dress is beige with a navy stripe on the side and a built-in belt and it is from Forever 21. My tights are classic black tights from J Crew, although any tights will do. And my shoes are black ballet flats (I think they're called Cece) also from J Crew.

Hope you all enjoyed this! Like and comment if you'd like me to keep posting these; I should be posting a new lipstick review later in the week.

Happy Monday!

Announcement!

Hi everyone!!

So I am about to start an internship next weekend. I will be working in a fairly casual office, but it is an office nonetheless and my highschool clothes won't be quite nice enough.

I have yet to find a great blog or website that gives girls my age (18) ideas for work wear that is formal but still fun. So, as I start my internship, I figured I would start blogging about my outfits here, explaining what is and is not appropriate, and how to wear color and patterns in a "office acceptable" way.

There will still be lipstick reviews every week, but hopefully I will also post an outfit or two per week. If there's anything else you'd like to see me cover or review on this blog, just let me know.

Happy Friday everyone!!

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balms

Hello Everyone!

While lipsticks are lovely and usually the most pigmented lip products out there, balms, stains, glosses, and tints still have their place in this world. Lip balm is especially important for those of us who are prone to chapped lips. Personally, because I have struggled with keeping my lips moisturized while wearing lipsticks, I enjoy using tinted lip balms for an easy, every day look. Thus, today's product is the Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balms, specifically #15 Cherry Me and #85 Oh! Orange!

First of all these balms both smell amazing, exactly like the fruits they are named after. Secondly, they are highly nourishing, so they're a good choice for a nightly routine as well as wearing out and about. Oh! Orange!, in the black packaging, has been my nightly staple for months, although I will wear it during the day occasionally. This particular color does not have a lot of coverage or pigment, which can be a drawback despite how good it is for your lips. Which brings us to Cherry Me, in the orange packaging. This color, a bright red, is much more pigmented than Oh! Orange! and therefore I find myself wearing it much more often. Also, the Cherry Me color has and SPF of 20, which makes it perfect for summertime, when it is often too hot for lipstick anyways.

Available at Target, most drug stores, and online at www.ulta.com for $3.99.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick

Hello Lovelies,

Today's lipstick is the perfect pink pout, something we need in our makeup bags. Whether it's 100 degrees outside or snowing, a pretty pink lip adds a feminine touch to any outfit. My favorite girly pink color is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in #036 Kiss.

I really enjoy the Rimmel lipsticks; they are highly moisturizing and quite pigmented, therefore making them very easy to wear. They come in a huge array of colors, from nudes to brights, and are available at most drug and beauty stores in most countries. Also, these lipsticks are not matte, although they are not very glossy either. There is definitely a sparkle to these colors and a shimmer that makes them wearable all year round.

Pink is by far the most common lipstick color, and these days cosmetic companies have created \every shade imaginable. Still, there is something rather unique to this pink, which is why I find myself wearing it so often. Though bright, I love how this color makes as much of a statement as a red lip, while still being a very feminine color. It would be a great compliment to a more masculine outfit, such as a leather jacket or biker boots.

Available online at www.ulta.com for $5.49.

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Maybelline Color Whisper

Hi Everyone!

Today I wanted to review my go to red lipstick. Red lips will always be classic and elegant, even as trends come and go. No matter your skin tone, a red lipstick is a great way to make a bold statement, complement dramatic eye makeup, or dress up your make up for an evening event. Personally, I use the Maybelline Color Whisper lipstick in #45 Who Wore It Red-er.

First of all, I love the Color Whisper line because the lipsticks are very wearable and subtle, which make them perfect for every day use, as well as easy to wear in the evening. I am personally not a very bold person, especially with makeup, and therefore do not often choose dramatic red lips. But when I do think that red would complement my outfit this lipstick is perfectly red, yet subtle.

Because it is a Color "Whisper" the pigmentation is about medium, however this lipstick is very moisturizing and does not come out too shiny. However this is not a matte lipstick and it does have a bit of sparkle to it. It looks great under a red lip gloss as well as on its own.

Available at most drugs stores and www.ulta.com, this lipstick is usually priced at $7.49.

Happy Sunday!

Clinique High Impact Lip Color

Hi Everyone!

This is one of the first lipsticks I ever bought, and it took me a while to be confident enough to wear it. It is one of two Clinique lipsticks that I currently own and I love both of them. These lip colors are super pigmented last quite a while. The packaging is also quiet nice, since it is actual metal and looks very classy on my makeup table. Although I have fairly dry lips, I do find myself needing to apply lip balm before this lipstick since it is not the most moisturizing product I own, so that is something to keep in mind.

I originally bought it because it was a nice red color, which looks nice with my pale skin, but when I actually put it on I found that I has undertones of orange which make it perfect for spring time! Personally, I think of this color as an in between seasons color, although it could be worn year round. I usually find myself wearing this during the spring and fall. It is a matte lipstick, which I love for the daytime, but it can also be worn with a gloss over it. This lipstick looks great in the evening, with slightly more dramatic eye makeup, and is a perfect alternative to the classic red lip. I also love that it has SPF 15, which is extremely important for the spring and summer.

This lipstick is $15.00 and is available at www.sephora.comwww.ulta.com and www.clinique.com

I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday and don't forget to leave comments with suggestions :)

The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick

Hi Everyone!

Happy Wednesday, especially to those of you on spring break. Since today was warmer than usual I decided to wear a dress and go for a more girly look. Thus I chose a baby pink lipstick, which was all the rage last year and is still an understated and gorgeous color for this spring. I've found that days where I would wear a nude lip color during the winter, I tend to grab a lighter pink during the spring and summer, just because it brightens up my make up and dark blushes are no longer in season. My favorite light pink is The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in #200 Peachy Pink.

I absolutely love this color, especially for the weather right now. It is super easy to wear and since it is a mild color it can be worn with pretty much anything. Perfect for daytime or evening, office or school, I have a feeling this will be a staple color again this year.

As for the lipstick itself, I really enjoy that it is a matte lipstick, but doesn't have the chalky effect that some matte lip colors can have. It also happens to be super moisturizing, something else that is unusual for a matte lipstick. Overall I love this lipstick and would gladly purchase it in more colors!

The Body Shop products are available online at www.thebodyshop-usa.com or at www.ulta.com. This lipstick cost $12.50 from both sites.

As always comment below with any requests!

Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter

This is one of my staple spring lipsticks. I love the idea of a lip butter, which is very moisturizing and makes your lips look nice and plump. It's incredibly easy to wear and is moderately pigmented, making it great for daytime. This is also a very glossy lipstick, leaving a brilliant shine without having to apply gloss.

The color above is #50 Berry Smoothie. It's the perfect pink for any look. It's subtle enough for school or work, but gives your face a pop of color when a nude just won't do. I find myself reaching for this color on fairly monochromatic days when a red or orange would clash with my outfit.

This lipstick can be purchased wherever Revlon products are found (bartells, ulta, etc.)

Don't forget to comment on other things you'd like to see on this blog and Happy Tuesday everyone!

Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick

My first post! Yay!

Slowly, but surely, the days are in fact getting warmer. With the beginning of April upon us, I think we can all agree that spring is officially here. Thus, dark lipsticks are going back into the depths of my makeup box until next season, and being replaced with pinks, corals, and the occasional orange. It's time for lighter and brighter colors!

One of my favorite everyday lip balms is the Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick (if you continue to follow this blog you will soon discover that I am obsessed with all things Neutrogena). I absolutely love how pigmented this product is considering it is a balm, not a lipstick. It is also extremely moisturizing, which is great because I don't find myself reapplying because my lips are chapped. I generally find myself reapplying once a day, which speaks to how long lasting it is.

This is not a brand that makes crazy colored products, thus the colors range from nudes to subtle pinks to reds. The above color is #20 Fresh Papaya and is a nicely colored pink that is perfect for a casual spring day. It's bright enough to give your face that pop of color, while muted enough for school or the office.

Another great thing about this product is that you can purchase it almost anywhere in the US. Most drug stores, such as Bartell Drugs, carry Neutrogena products, along with Target and Ulta Beauty. You can also purchase directly from the company at www.neutrogena.com.

In case the title wasn't clear enough, this will be a blog about my obsession with lipsticks, lip balms, lip stains, etc. For now, I will try to post once a week and stick strictly to lip related items. Please leave comments about anything else you'd like to read about (fashion, hair, other beauty products) and I'll be happy to incorporate them!

Happy Thursday :)
